The 'Industrial Safety Startup Entrepreneurship' craze in Ulsan

This year, the center recruited 10 teams of prospective early-stage entrepreneurs in the industrial safety field for the safety technology startup nurturing platform project, attracting 80 teams with a competition rate of 8 to 1. Typical companies include Jeep Korea (CEO Ahn Hyun-soo), which is promoting the commercialization of hazardous chemical leak detection sensors, TSEM (CEO Noh Tae-wook), which is developing eco-friendly fire-resistant filler materials, and Songhyun L&C (CEO Kwon Young-sun), which is developing low-cost emergency escape coating devices.

The startup SpecsTech (CEO Park Jong-seok) in the fire safety sector has gained attention from local industries by introducing flexible fire extinguishing sheets with an automatic extinguishing function.

Frog Electric (CEO Eon Seong-gyun) plans to supply industrial safety products that combine waterproof sockets and plugs, which do not cause electric shocks or leakage even when submerged in water, to Ulsan City. CEO Eon Seong-gyun said, "Currently, we have only 2 employees and a revenue of 500 million won, but we will grow by effectively utilizing Ulsan's industrial safety infrastructure."
The center is establishing a full-cycle business support system for startups in collaboration with the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, the largest public institution in the industrial safety sector located in Ulsan Innovation City, large companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and startup investment firms such as Sunbo Angel Partners, providing support for patents, funding, and marketing. Earlier this month, the Occupational Safety and Health Agency set up a 'Safety Technology Startup Zone' for startups at the International Safety and Health Exhibition held at COEX in Samsung-dong, Seoul, to support market expansion. In June, Hyundai Heavy Industries held a demand-supply matching event to support the commercialization of startups.

Thanks to these efforts by the center, Jeep Korea secured funding necessary for commercialization from an investment company. Sunjin ERS (CEO Kang Hae-il), which is developing a disaster lighting platform based on Internet of Things (IoT), has signed a sales contract with CJ CheilJedang. Frog Electric is pursuing large-scale purchasing contracts with Samsung C&T and POSCO E&C.
